The last time I had KFC was a long, long time ago and I remember being so unwell after it. Needless to say, I’ve not had it since.
I’ve made this dish before but without specific measurements and I’ve also tweaked it a little. So here is my version of a NOT KFC Chicken pieces to share with at least 4 people. Unless you’re really hungry!😋
Ingredients
• 8 pieces of Chicken thighs & drumsticks
• 1 cup of milk
• 1 cup plain flour
• 2 tsp dried parsley
• 2 tsp garlic granules
• 2 tsp paprika
• 2 tsp mixed herbs (or you can use Oregano)
• 1 tsp black pepper
• 1 tsp sea salt
Method
1. Soak the chicken pieces in the milk for 20 minutes.
2. Combine the flour, garlic granules, paprika, dried parsley, mixed herbs, black pepper & the sea salt in a large bowl and mix thoroughly.
3. Pre heat oven to 200 degrees C.
4. Heat a little oil in a pan.
5. Coat the chicken pieces thoroughly in the seasoned flour mixture and sear both sides in the hot pan before transferring them onto a baking tray and into the oven. Lower the oven temperature to 180 degrees C.
6. Cook for about 45 minutes or until golden and crispy.
7. Remove the chicken pieces from the oven and let them rest for about 10 minutes before serving.
Serve with a side of salad and oven baked fries sprinkled with dried parsley, sea salt & black pepper.
Happy cooking! 💛
*I came across this and it made me laugh, had to share it!
I definitely want to try this! Perfect crispy skin, yum!
Thank you!! Please do!! It’s super easy!😊
What a delicious looking chicken meal! I will keep this in mind when I want some chicken for dinner. Speaking of KFC, I tend to feel unwell after eating it most times, especially when I eat the spicy chicken wings or any of their wraps. Either it must be all of the oil and fat in their chicken, or the herbs and spices that they use 🙂
Thank you Mabel! Oh dear, you too? Yeah I think it’s the grease! My stomach can’t take deep fried foods and I always feel bad after. This is why even if I want fries, I get the oven baked ones or make my own. 😊
It seems that over the last few years I feel very sick and full after fried foods, which I am now avoiding (partly because I get stomach ulcers, so I have to limit foods like oranges and tomatoes). Your chicken does look very tasty. If I tried your recipe I might add a bit of shaved cheese for garnishing 🙂
Love your food Farianti 🙂 It looks super delicious. Have a fab day ❤
Thank you so much Linda!! I hope you have a lovely day too!😘
This looks so good. I regularly walk past a KFC and the smell makes me feel sick sometimes! I don’t think that would serve even two in my house. I’d be lucky if I got a couple of pieces 😉
Thank you Lisa! I know, I don’t even want to know what they put in their food! Hahaha you made me laugh at the fact that my portion wouldn’t even serve 2 in your house! My husband packed up 3 pieces and took it to work the next day! I only managed 2 pieces the night I made them! ☺️
I think your oven fried chicken looks and no doubt tastes much better than KFC…I am not a fan of eating anything but organic chicken these days and I am pretty sure that is not what “the colonel” uses! Love the fries to go along with this meal…all done in the oven…no deep frying involved. Great post.
Thank you so much Teresa! Haha yes the smell of KFC is also very over powering. I tend not to deep fry anyhing as my stomach can’t handle the grease. So everything is either oven baked, pan grilled or a quick shallow fry. 😊
Of course it looks better than KFC and It’s lunch time here and now am drooling all over the place wishing this were my lunch. Who doesn’t love fries and crunchy chicken? we all do!!!!!
Aww, thank you!!😊
Love that comic/gif! Too funny! 🙂
Bahaha, that meme! And I’ll take your chicken over KFC any day!
